Geez..great article...If that does not remind me of the years in Alumni Gym. The old school radiators blasting, the paint peeling on the railings,,,the plywood scoreres table...the smell of chlorine from the pool....Smokey Joe Loftus puffing away in some dark corner.
I think the only difference here is we had the good sense to put the pool on the bottom level and the bball court on the top.
Lets be honest, naming the gym Alumni gym was an insult to alumni....but man I loved watching games there....and the ampitheater, the Stadium....you youngsters missed a great time in college basketball...Chicago was a COLLEGE basketball town b4 Micheal and the Bulls took over. and BIG games between LU and Depaul and LU and Marquette (from here on out known as the cowards)
But go St. Peters.......

Former Rambler Harry Laurie transferred to St. Peter's and was later drafted. Another (albeit small) Loyola-St. Peter's connection.
