Scary deep. Up 21-4 , Marquise not dressed, Edwards not playing, and you still have confidence in everyone coming into the game. Alston and Quinn particularly impressive.

Welch playing really well. Looks really good playing with other bugs. He's going to be very good this year.

Sounds like they're not playing that great. 3 pt shooting looks atrocious.

Couldn’t watch it, but wow the 3 point shooting and amount of fouls against a D3 opponent is concerning.

Also surprised Hutty started over Golden. Golden still managed to pick up 4 fouls though

Mixed bag.

My thoughts:

1). We are deep and athletic. We have a few lineups where we can put out some length and cause problems defensively. The defense will be fine.

2) Our shooting was abysmal. We couldn't make layups, 3s, or FTs. I am worried where we are going to get our 3s from. Norris and Edwards will provide some, but 2 Shooters aren't enough.

3) Alston is relentless on both ends of the floor. He's an impact player. Quinn looked good, but needs to refine his jumper.

4) Lewis only played about 4 minutes in mop up time. Why? He clearly doesn't look like he will play much if he can't get on the floor with Quise and Sheldon out. Wonder if he will be redshirt like Ben last year.

5). Let's hope when the light goes on next week they play better.

offense moved the ball well, got good shots , couldn't make good shots...looked hurried.
Very few defensive lapses..lot of athleticism.
most of the fouls came when Calumet really wisely isolated quick guards on our centers....
Kennedy will be back soon, probably next game
Edwards will miss a few games, 4-6
Calumet had no height but lots of quick guards, different kind of problem.
Lewis is the least ready of the freshman, still learning and needs to get stronger.
Quinn was real quick to the basket..between Kennedy and Quinn we are going to be able to get to the basket.
Dawson and Schwiegart both looked ready to contribute but had tough shooting days. but both have good form, will get better.
Hutty looked improved but those hands!!! Golden was serviceable but smaller than I imagined, Welch still looks like the best of the 3 to me.
Both Quinn (1st half) and Norris (2nd half) handled the job of initiating the offense. We may see more of Quinn bringing the ball up when the other team scores. It helped create 3 opportunities for Norris on the wing .
Williams the transfer from Lehigh did not get much play time. so really dont know much. if it was due to wanting to get younger guys experience or if he is down the roster.
So hard to predict based on this game. but what I saw was a really physically talented group of guys, many of them young with just average play at the center position. and left me wondering if we are the gang that cant shoot straight....but very exciting team to watch.
One concern was that he play Norris almost the whole game in a somewhat meaningless exhibition. Wondered if he does not trust anyone.

Going to bring this up.... *gulp* Might seem like a conspiracy theory, sour grapes, or a petty complaint, but here goes.....

At the NCAA Tournament in Pittsburgh, they used a different ball. A brighter orange. Bouncier, it seemed to me. And it had a "stickier" feel on the outside. So a lot of shots that hit the rim with the wrong rotation "stuck" on the rim and bounced out. The smoother surface of the older version slipped a bit on the rim and slid in. The ball used in last year's tournament had a different tackiness to the surface.

It seemed like that was an issue in the exhibition game. You have to wonder when the two teams are a combined 4 of 42 on threes. Are they using a ball with a different surface? Is it bouncier than previous versions?

Easy solution: Don't hit the rim.
