how does our RPI look now?

24 hours ago, we had an RPI of 139. After losing two games in 24 hours that we should have won, it's now 299. We now have the worst RPI of any team in this lightweight tournament, after having come into it 100 places higher than any of the others.

Yup. I feel for these guys. That's why I will refrain from making any negative comments. They're working hard and things just aren't going their way...game, after game, after game.

Here's the thing...eventually things are supposed to regress (or progress) to the mean. In our case, that hasn't happened. Last year we lost 7 games by 11 points. You'd think all of the bad luck would have been worn out. You'd be wrong. We continue to fall further and further away from the mean.

I certainly hope that the remainder of this year will be different. But, realistically, I have little faith in this team winning any more than a couple of games in conference.

By my count, this is the 9th consecutive game we've lost away from home. In every single one of those games, we've had a second-half lead of 4 points or more.

2/04/2013 at Wright State, 13-point lead with 6 1/2 minutes left.
2/07/2013 at Youngstown State, 4-point lead with 6 minutes left (and 2-point lead with :15 seconds left).
2/12/2013 at Milwaukee, 7-point lead with 19:26 left.
2/26/2013 at Detroit, 4-point lead with 4 minutes left (and 1-point lead with :09 left).
3/05/2013 at Youngstown State, 4-point lead with 6 minutes left (and tied with :12 left).
11/12/2013 at Tennessee Tech, 12-point lead with 15 minutes left.
11/16/2013 at Tulane, 19-point lead with 17:25 minutes left.
11/22/2013 at Portland State, 17-point lead with 19 minutes left.
11/23/2013 vs. UC-Davis, 4-point lead with :21 left in regulation (and 1-point lead with 1 minute left in OT).

Maybe I am in error but 63 has made a concrete--here's the evidence--type statement.

This team has far too much talent for this to be happening--

I do not believe Doyle today and Turk last evening would be taking wild shots as they have been, if indeed they were tryin' anything to win a game---To be losing the way we have TIME AND TIME AGAIN after playing well, might just have influenced them to do what they have done.

If these guys have been mailing it in , it would be one thing--BUT they are laying it all on the line. game after game.

Porter says these problems are on him--Maybe so--I don't know, except this outcome today IS on him in my opinion.

I know it's easy to be pessimistic (especially as a Rambler and Cubs fan), but is there anything positive that we can take away from those 9 games? Just off the top of my head...it's really impressive that we have had a lead in 9 straight road games! Calling captain obvious here, you can't win a game unless you have a lead in the second half! I know that doesn't mean anything if you don't win the game though.

The positive is that we're close. But with that comes a big negative. Some of these are games that we should never have lost.
