We should get a good number of votes today and my guess we will be around 27 or 28. Norfolk won’t move the stick much but a Davidson win should put us at #24 on 12/27. Thoughts?

It probably depends more on other teams losing unfortunately. If we beat Davidson and Norfolk, I agree we should be pretty close by then. Seth Davis had us as the #2 mid-major today behind Colorado St.

Seth Davis had us as #24 in his overall top 25. CBS had us as the "+1" in their top 25+1. So we are close. Just keep on winning.

Here are the rankings on the individual voters' ballots:

21st - 1 ballot
23rd - 2 ballots
24th - 2 ballots
25th - 5 ballots
Not rated - 51 ballots

Overall - went from appearing on 10 ballots this week from 1 last week.

Looking at some of the Top 25's schedules and the others receiving votes, it seems like if we win at Norfolk and Davidson, we'll simply wait our turn until we can get ranked 2 weeks from now, and probably land at 24 or 25 once higher teams inevitably absorb some losses.

Win the 19th and the 22nd and we'll be ranked in the bottom of the Top 25 by December 27th heading into the new year.

Davidson is a very good team, and they've won 6 in a row. They've won all their home games by an average margin of 21.3 points. They're 46th in average size, and the only team we've defeated in the top 120 of average height is DePaul. And lastly, Davidson is the only team to defeat the Ramblers at home in the past two calendar years.

Likely our last opportunity for a Quad 1 win (unless Drake can go on a run and get in the top 75). Davidson is currently the top NET team in the A10 at #46. Also the 3rd toughest team on the schedule (after MSU and Auburn, of course). Davidson is #63 in KenPom (compared to #12 for Auburn, 18 for MSU, #80 for Drake, #88 for DePaul, #93 for Vandy, #101 for Arizona State). A lot of words just to say...it's a big game.

Missouri State is now 2 spots higher than Drake, but it doesn't look good that either will end up top 75, especially after the conference schedule sinks their SOS.

It's also worth noting that we barely lost to the 9th tallest team in college basketball, Michigan State. We have enough talent to beat this Davidson team. Hopefully Hyunjung Lee doesn't drop 6 three pointers on us again.
