There's a story growing out of SIU that could mean some major punishments for its athletics program. They fired their relatively new AD last week. Now reports are coming out that they hired a compliance director that was under NCAA sanctions and hid allegations of abuse by swim team members. This is shaping up to be a "lack of institutional control" situation, which usually leads to the NCAA laying the hammer down. SIU was already struggling with finances and enrollment--they did not need this. Definitely some troubling allegations. When I saw that the AD was let go, at the beginning of the school year no less, you knew there had to be something behind it. As for the NCAA, they definitely don’t look kindly on this type of stuff. Unless your name is Baylor. Or Michigan. Or…well, you get the idea. Enrollment at SIU is down maybe 40% from what it was when I graduated 15 years ago. The school (and town) has taken a big hit financially. Which is a shame, because it was a fun place to live back then. There has been a slight rebound/steadying in enrollment recently, which hopefully is a good sign for the future. It is absolutely an economic engine for the Southern third or so of the State. |

Googled the SIU message board, Saluki Insider. When I clicked on the link, was redirected to the Bradley message board. A few weeks ago when I clicked link to Saluki Insider I reached a porn site instead. After a few hours it was fixed. True story. Looks like somebody is hacking Saluki Insider. Try it, please, and report your results. It's still happening to me. Hope it's not my phone that's been hacked. Edit: As of 9:00, no longer redirected to the Bradley board. Think I'll PM Saluki Insider admin. to see what gives. Edit#2: As of 10:35 back to redirecting to BradleyFans. |
