Great job by the staff securing these commitments. I think both will be excellent players for the Ramblers and they show the Chicago pipeline is still alive--first CPS commitments since Lucas, right?

Miles has legit pro potential with his size and athleticism. I think he will be a day one starter. Will be interesting to see if he can develop an outside shot and some handles.

How many true freshman day 1 starters can anyone remember? Even Cam doesn't really count.

One thing that may just be a sample size coincidence is Drew seems to be using high school/AAU relationships between players to bring in (or trying to bring in) guys who know each other. Jalen Quinn and Ty Pence are good friends. Brock Harding and Ty Pence played together. Obviously the Rubin twins. Jayden Dawson and Saint Thomas are friends and both from Omaha. Of the freshman (not the transfers) he has recruited who have committed, it seems like Trey Lewis is the only one who didn't know anyone on the team and he is from Drew's neck of the woods in Michigan. Chemistry seems to be a big emphasis

Agreed, I think the program is at a point where it is really tough to step in as a freshman and play, as all the players are talented. My worry with Miles is he is going to need to put on some weight to be able to defend some of the other centers in the A10. Maybe he is good enough

Milton would’ve been if he wasn’t forced to redshirt for spending a few weeks in Lawrence. Otherwise it’s probably Joe Crisman (CT started half the games IIRC) which is pretty funny to think about

Chris Williams was a day 1 freshman starter in 1998-99. Tom Levin started 23 out of 30 games as a freshman in 2004-05. Javan Goodman was a freshman starter right out of the box in 1995. JR Blount started 22 games as a freshman.

No big loss. Harding is too small to play in the A10.

Quise started a few games as a true freshman, including the season opener, but that was due to injury issues.

Pretty sure Alfredrick started almost every game as Freshman in 1981-82 and that team had some good players. Andre Battle started quite a few games as Freshman in 81-82 as well, but I don't know if either were starters from day 1.

Eh... I don't want to pass judgment when guys like him don't end up committing. The way the transfer portal works now, there's a chance he ends up taking over for Norris down the road if/when things don't work out in Iowa City.
