Hello Ramblers,

There are two new posts this week. The first is my standard weekly power ranking, summaries and tidbits.

The second is one I am really excited about. It is Session 1 of my "All-Time Arch Madness" featuring all the teams from my "Every MVC School's Best Team of the 20th Century" article. For this, I have supplied a writeup and a box score for each game as provided by whatifsports. Session 1, Thursday Night, is posted, and I will be posting one session a day for the next five days.  As the 4-seed, 2018 Loyola will make its debut tomorrow in session 2 against 2010 UNI so make sure to check back.  After this week, I'll get back to my normal stuff.

Thanks all. The link is here: https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/

Hello Rambler Fans,

The new weekly power rankings and summaries are posted. This week's other article is about the "Top 30 Newcomers in the MVC in 20-21 (So Far)". The only featured Rambler is Braden Norris but that is what you get for having such a veteran team, haha. I originally included Welch before figuring out that he wasn't technically a newcomer.  Also my "All-Time Arch Madness" was played out in five sessions over the course of last week and that is now finished and posted.

The link is here: https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/

Thanks all and good luck.

If our team wasn’t so deep this year I think Baylor Hebb would easily be on this list. He hasn’t had much playing time, but he’s very talented. Once he adds some size he’ll be dangerous.

Hello Ramblers,

I just made two new blog posts. One is the standard power rankings and tidbits for week 9. The other is "Every MVC School's Most Famous Basketball Alum". The Loyola rep is Alfredrick Hughes.  Yours was probably the toughest school to pick. I also included an addendum for other famous alums at each school. Please let me know which ones I missed. I really enjoyed researching this one.

Alright, there is a lot of new stuff this week at https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/.

-We are now on Twitter. Follow @BeatMVC. It looks like a popular handle for Rambler fans already.

-New week 10 power rankings and tidbits. The tidbits this week are essentially a mid-major bubble watch so I figure that might be interesting to some people. https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... ogy-update

-This week's other article is a check-in on the Larry Bird Trophy race (written primarily before this weekend's games, so it is already a bit out of date. I look at the top 15 candidates with at least one from each team.Krutwig obviously featured for Loyola. https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... tch-top-15

Thanks everyone! Have a good one!

Good stuff, as usual. Always look forward to reading your blog.

On the Larry Bird trophy, I it is highly connected to where your team finishes. If Drake/Loyola continue to run away with the league and finish 3+ games clear of the third place team, I can't see anyone else winning it besides Krut, Penn or Hemphill. In the past, there have been individual players that have put up big numbers like Prim/Mosley, but no Larry Bird to show for it.

Last few winners:
19-20: AJ Green (UNI - 1st)
18-19: Marques Towns (Loyola - 1st)
17-18: Clayton Custer (Loyola - 1st)
16-17: Paris Lee (ISUr - 1st)
15-16: Fred VanVleet (WSU- 1st)
14-15: Seth Tuttle (UNI - 2nd)

Yeah there’s no way Prim or Mosley are winning it.

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment. And yes, you are right that it usually goes to the best player on the best team. But there also haven't usually been such big outliers on lower finishing teams as Mosley and Prim at the time of that writing. They have come a bit back down to Earth since, though. I'd probably put Krut as the favorite if I wrote that today.

DJ Balentine, Milik Yarbrough, Tyreke Key, Milton Doyle to an extent, Anthony Beane, and Reed Timmer all come to mind as fitting your outliers description. But I digress, not trying to get too nitpicky. I do like your blog
