I thought this article, although not what we want to hear, is very comprehensive , explains different scenarios and risks involved
and the science involved.

I heard from someone reliable that Loyola was considering having on line classes only for the first quarter of the upcoming school year. The logical extension is that the students would not be on campus and thus that would impact the basketball season or at least its start. Nothing finalized though at this time.

9599: first quarter. Housing arrangements for Fall need to be planned for now and it appears that students will be doing on line classes first Quarter.
Dr. Rooney eluded to this also in recent speech about the need to do things differently. adjust to new reality.

Call me cynical, but that seems like a way to get students to enroll and pay a semester's tuition without knowing for sure when they can come to campus.

Great article in todays (4/22) Wall Street Journal page A3 which explains dilemma of colleges dealing with social distancing issues. etc and strategies to counter.
Enrollments will be done 15% with decrease in revenues of $23 billion. Parents are not going to send their children into a nest of potential disease. There are lawsuits pending against several schools for sending students home but not agreeing to refund part of the tuition for school plus room and board etc.
Interesting on how Harvard, Stanford and some other big schools returned small business loans to the government. They have huge endowments and really scammed the system. President of Penn earns $4.2 million. One school was going to get a $12 million dollar loan and the Presidents salary was over $6 million.
Seems like time to cost admin costs a bit.

Wash U in STL furloughed 1,300 employees. They have a $9 billion endowment.

They didnt scam the system. The rules for the program were written in deliberately vague language, and one of the two political parties wanted to throw another 1/4 trillion dollars into that hole with no changes to the guidance.

seems like some of this belongs on the off topic board......I will post an article on the oversight of the bail out system there

it certainly seems like some schools are going to have to make some tough decisions....at some point I am sure that we as supporters of the athletic program will be asked to help.....I am more worried about when I will be able to go and see the Ramblers again

I wasn't implying that they were scamming the system. They reached into the till because they could. The point is the disparity between the salary at the top and the staff that is getting "furloughed" and laid off in essence and the fact that many schools including Loyola and Depaul are not offering rebates of tuition and in some instances room and board as they should. On line courses are not the same "experience" many students want nor signed up for. On line course are like going to the movie theatre to see the movie on the big screen and paying your $10-12 and instead of going to the theatre being handed a DVD to take home and watch on your small screen tv.
The holy grounds of academia show in some instances (not all) the same greed at the top as big corporate America top management (some not all) who ship jobs overseas and then close down their US operations while stuffing their pockets with big bonuses. Years ago Jamie Dimon CEO of JP Morgan (America's best banker) took a $2million paycut from $25 million to $23 million because JP Morgan's derivative department lost two BILLION dollars.
