If we do end up in the transfer market, Zion Griffin out of Iowa State is transferring. Hinsdale south product, was ranked just outside the top 100 two years ago. His career got started with an MCL injury and he never was able to catch up.

We were one of his first offers in high school... our last Iowa state transfer worked out alright

He would probably actually make a lot of sense for SIU though. Bet Mullins is in contact with him already. As much as you hate to see conference rivals get players like that, I guess it's more palatable than if programs started to atrophy.

If we have one or two guys thinking about transferring (and I have a absolutely no idea if that’s the case and I’m just posing a hypothetical), does that even affect our ability to recruit if they don’t make a decision quickly? If one guy leaves, doesn’t that just means Hutson slides in with a scholarship and we are done?

Also - Even if that doesn’t happen, is Hutson eligible to play as a walk-on immediately, or is it a case where we redshirt him?

Hutson could walk on and forgo his redshirt if he/the team agreed to it. But it’d make no sense for anyone involved; he’d be stuck behind 2 traditional centers and Welch who was gaining traction as the year was coming to an end. Basically he’d waste a year of eligibility for little to no play time.

Redshirting allows him to keep four years eligibility, focus on improving his craft, get faster and learning the offense, and step into his freshman year with a chance to start from day 1. Or at least be the favorite to start following Franks departure.

Missouri State adds another JuCo transfer. Averaged 16.5 pts/4.7 rebs./5.6 assts for Colby CC. Shot 47% from field, 44% from 3pt and had a 2.6/1 assist to TO ratio.

Colby was ranked 10th in the last NJCAA polls from 3/2/20.

Do we want to keep Loyola transfer mentions here or in a new thread?

Currently the 12th ranked grad transfer on the list Swella just posted.

Would think he may have 2 years of eligibility. Played a year at Fairfield, sat a year to transfer to Cal Baptist, then played there last year.

This thread seems to have evolved into an omnibus transfer thread. Maybe ahunte can change the title to reflect that.

It will be interesting to see how many actually transfer, or if some still return. Past years have shown some kids just do it to see what’s out there, but still return the next year. Valpo last year is an example.
