This was from ramblermanager9599 on the old board. Northern Illinois 9. @ Kent State 10. ? 11. ? 12. ? 13 - 30: Missouri Valley schedule I saw on Basketball Travelers that Princeton is looking for a home and home series. That would be a nice tie-in to our Fordham trip. |

While Princeton would be nice, I think we need to be focusing on more home games. If we are going to be on the road, I'd rather it be against a big team like MSU this past year... |

We really need some winnable home games that will help us boost RPI. I'm not saying we'd be in line for a bid, it's important to the MVC to not suck in the RPI so as not to drag down the top three teams in the league that might be in line for an at-large. How about a Canisius or Fairfield (Jesuit tie-in), or Niagra from the MAAC, or maybe a good Patriot League team like Lafayette, Lehigh, etc. A mid to lower level A10 team with an RPI in the mid 100s would help us (as long as we win)-- how about St. Bonnies, George Washington, or Richmond? And then there are the Jesuit WCC teams that we should try to get on the schedule-- Santa Clara, San Francisco, Loyola Marymount.... and the big one, Gonzaga. Last year, we played three of the bottom 24 RPI teams in all of college basketball: Chicago State at 323, Northern Illinois at 331, and Maryland-Eastern Shore at 345. And we played ALL THREE OF THEM on the road or at a neutral site, which does us NO GOOD AT ALL in the RPI formula. As a result, our RPI came in at 216, and our non-conference strength of schedule was 4th from the bottom in all of college hoops--- despite playing Michigan State. |
