Apropos of the plus/minus discussion, count me as a stat agnostic and sports Luddite.
I hate that sports are becoming more and more quantified, algorithmed, micromanaged, digitized and computerized.
Two examples: 1) Watching the World Series I was horrified to see players in the dugout looking at laptop computers. That is a sacrilege and an abomination in my book.
2) In Europe at least some professional soccer teams are making their [male] players wear SPORTS BRAS(!) equipped with a GPS devise that records many different variables such as average speed, distance traveled, fastest recorded sprint, and areas of the field that a player moves in. It also records physiological variables like heart rate, respiration, etc.
https://sports.stackexchange.com/questi ... ayers-wear

This is degrading and dehumanizing to my mind.

Why suck all the fun and humanity out of sports with the ever more granular statistics and increasingly intrusive technology?

Why keep score at all?

Here's an article about the Nerd versus Meathead debate in sports which takes the Nerd position. As a Meathead I obviously don't agree with its conclusion, but it does a good job elucidating the issues.

"They were throwing tshirts?"

"Why keep score at all?"

This is becoming one of the greatest thread in the history of this website.

And I was the unwitting straight man both times...

Quick, somebody feed me a line for a "That's what she said" comeback.(But you can't use "unwitting straight man" in the setup.)
Otherwise I will feel like the comedy tables have been turned forever.

I think everybody should keep in mind that this was the first game as a Rambler for five players: Tate Hall, Jalon Pipkins, Marquise Kennedy, Tom Welch and Paxson Wojcik. We should be patient while the newcomers acclimate to the speed of the game and learn their role in the system. It will take time. It is not an easy process. There will be bumps in the long and hard road.
Long and hard...

With the speed we have, part of that process should be utilizing our ball movement to allow for more penetration

That's what she said!

(I know it was a Pity Straight Line but I'll take it. Thanks 01Grad for helping me restore the natural order of things.)
