I started going to Loyola games in 2002, and I got season tickets when Porter came to town. I think Fred Van Vleet is the best player I saw at Gentile. Kind of cool to watch him advance to the NBA Finals tonight. In game five he made 6 or 7 threes... he is infamous for missing like one shot in two games at Gentile.

Who is the best player you've seen at Loyola, Rambler or opponent?

I believe the Michigan State team that came to Gentile my senior year had Jason Richardson and Zach Randolph. Gordon Hayward paid us a visit a few times, of course.

I could name several great Ramblers from my years as a Loyola student from 1960 to 1964, but the best opposing players I have seen at Loyola, in my clouded memory, were Nate Thurmond and Howard "Butch" Komives, teammates at Bowling Green.

Not gonna beat those two!

I forgot about Hayward. Not sure if I actually made it to a Butler game when he was here.

Well, if you are going to count off campus games, I saw the Ramblers play Ohio State in the Chicago Stadium during the 1960-1961 season. That team included Jerry Lucas, John Havlicek, and Larry Sigfried.

Jeez, I think I am going back to the wisconsin game at the horizon against...well... wisconsin. Wasnt there a Robert tractor trailer playing for the badgers in that one?

I think the ramblers won in a low scoring affair.

The Wisconsin game had future NBA star Michael Finley. Tractor Traylor played for Michigan a few years later.

Indeed you are correct thanks. My memory has faded with age (and other things).
