This is a little off-topic, but did anybody read the ESPN piece, "Chasing Ghosts: DePaul's Journey from Name Brand to Also Ran?" https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/305/depaul-blue-demons It's an interesting history of what has went wrong for them since their Meyer glory days. A lot of the experts basically say it would take them getting an elite Chicago player to stay home to get them back to prominence, and it has more to do with getting that player than it does their coach (like if Dwayne Wayde would have went to DePaul instead of heading north to Marquette). Moser's name is thrown in a few times in the article, insinuating if Leitao has a bad year, Porter would probably be next up for them. What I found interesting was the references to the Wintrust Arena, which now seems like a complete bust for DePaul to me. Thank god we have what we have ON CAMPUS. |

We have a better university with a better location and improved facilities that are logistically more convenient. DePaul has the advantage of being in the Big East and a budget about twice what ours is. If we can get to the tournament on a semi-regular basis (two or three times every five years) and maintain the kind of recruiting we have had the past five years, there's going to be even less difference between the athletic programs. Hopefully the new coaching blood in the MVC can lift the basketball programs back to where they were in the early 2000s. |

I would like to see MVC basketball back to the level it was at in the 1950's and 1960's. Think Bradley and Cincinnati. |
