Second commitment of the class and another high level Chicago talent staying home.

Good stuff. High level player and a Chicago kid. I think our last two commits are guys that might have gotten looks from "higher" mid majors this summer like Dayton and SLU if not for the pandemic. Looking forward to seeing this class continue to come together.

6 minute highlight tape for DePaul Prep PG Ty Johnson. Was a Second Team All City selection. Scores from all 3 levels, not afraid to pull up from very long range, shows some nice passing in the tape, but looks more like a score first kind of guard. Averaged 20.1 points, 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 steals last year. Offers from Colorado State, UW-Milwaukee, Green Bay, Chicago State, Youngstown State, and UIC.

Re-up of the post with a link to his highlight video.

My big question is whether we can credibly list Johnson's program height at 6'5"?

Agreed, he reminds me a ton of Marquise, who didn't get a lot of love until the summer before his senior year, but exploded on the AAU circuit. Love his speed and ability to shoot from deep as well.

If we’re talking comparisons, he reminds me a lot of Keith right now. Higher ceiling I think athletically, lower floor as of right now. But the shooting ability, ability to create steals, and handle remind me of Keith

I can see the Clemmons' comparison too. Earlier I said he reminded me of Williamson. Upon re-watching his mixtape I also saw some Milton Doyle in him, particularly a spin move when driving to the basket.
Has a very quick first step and good crossover. Deep shooting range. Doesn't seem to elevate very high.
All in all he looks like a very promising prospect!

With our new additions, it looks like 2021-2022 so far looks like:

Players 6'4'' or over:
Wojcik
Norris
Kennedy
Hebb
Kaifes
Johnson

Players 6'5'' or over:
Welch
Hutson
Agunanne
Anderson
Schwieger

To me, that would be a starting lineup of:

Agunnane
Anderson
Kaifes
Kennedy
Norris

What type of players should we be looking at to fill out the roster with what we are projected to have next year?

We have two open scholarships. I hope Porter saves one or both for use in the post-season transfer market, or maybe on a late-developing high school senior.

Personally, I would like to see us sign a wide-body 6'5"-6'7" power forward, an Aundre Jackson or Leon Young type who can score underneath and provide some muscle when the game gets chippy. (I'm sure JCT would approve.)

Maybe someone predisposed to hate teams from central Illinois?
