Northwestern is posting that basketball practice starts Friday and they will have an open scrimmage next Saturday. R the Ramblers on the same schedule?

Practices can take place starting six weeks prior to the first game, so that means it can start this week for us as well.

Does Loyola do some sort of "Midnight Madness" or other kickoff for the season? I know WSU has Shocker Madness scheduled and ESPN will be there to record some of it.

I'm just glad basketball is officially starting and the fun is just around the corner.

We have a Midnight Madness event. It's not a terribly big event but a decent number of students/fans show up. Free stuff certainly brings people out!

That's good. Not all programs do it and probably because of attendance. I know WSU fans complain about our attendance for it, but for us diehards, it's fun to see the new guys or redshirts play in person and get a little taste of what we have before the games start. We've kept it pretty simple in the past with both the men's and women's teams scrimmaging. We've had a battle of the sexes shooting contest and used to have a dunk contest that I think was scrapped. Nobody got injured, but we had one guy jumping over an expensive motorcycle and another jumping over WU. Don't know if it'll be brought back or not. It's not a big production but it's a free event and it's basketball!

Practice does start this weekend for the Ramblers. I don't have any more specifics past that.
