For the coming season, the Ramblers only have 11 scholarship players, two short of the maximum. I am assuming Moser doesn't plan to use the remaining two scholarships this year, but has reserved them for 2014-2015 so that he can sign high school seniors Jay Knuth and (hopefully) Sean O'Mara.

Since current NCAA rules provide that scholarships are renewable one year commitments only, why not use one of the available scholarships to reward London Dokubo for his accomplishments as a walk-on these past two years? This could be a one year deal only, and his scholarship could be rescinded next year so that Moser could use it elsewhere. It would be a nice gesture, not to mention a financial blessing for London.

Butler did something similar last season with walk-on Alex Barlow, who was awarded a scholarship in January following his heroics at the Indiana game.

While I think scholarships in general should be for four years, in this instance I wouldn't object to Dokubo receiving a one year award provided he was informed at the start that it would be for one year only.

One of your best posts, Swella. Couldn't agree more. I'm removed at this point from the locker room but everything I hear is he is a great kid and teammate. Deserves it!

Thought has crossed my mind also, and I agree it would be a solid gesture.

If it's not preventing talent from coming in, it'd be a great gesture for a kid that appears to be a solid teammate. A number of years ago we gave a scholarship to a SR walkon from Texas who actually played a little. It was a great way to reward a kid who'd spent three years here busting his butt and helping make us better.
