I am not sure if it has been discussed already or announced by anyone else but it looks like we will be in the Savannah Invitational next year.

1. Do we have any idea on what the rest of the field looks like?

2. Is this a step up or down from the Paradise Jam?

Guessing step down.

This years roster was Radford, Stetson, Georgia Southern, Akron, Air Force, East Carolina, Florida A&M

I don't know the other teams at this point. This was the first year of the tournament with the teams Go posted. I would consider it a step down.

Yeah-- new tournament. I guess this is an MTE trying to get off the ground. I would have to imagine that we wouldn't have committed unless we had an idea of some of the other teams, and there was somebody good in the mix.

Next year is going to be interesting with Donte Ingram, Aundre Jackson, Ben Richardson, Clayton Custer (maybe/probably), Tyson Smith, Maurice Kirby and Vlatko Granic all seniors. An MTE needs to be challenging if the team is looking for a good postseason (NCAA or NIT) in what should be a valedictory season. The optimum MTE would be made up of a bunch of teams in the 50-150 RPI range.

Good point, JCT. The schedule for the next couple of years needs to take a big step forward in order to build tournament a tournament resume.

For next year, we have a home game vs NC State, which is a good building block. Hopefully other teams at Savannah help as well.

After that, there is continued talk about DePaul and/or Northwestern. (Not that DePaul helps with the resume portion...)

I've heard that it's a four team with DePaul, NU, LU and UIC. Since DePaul and NU have a home and home, we would be guaranteed either DePaul or NU. I'd hope that it'd be NU since we never play them, but we probably won't get them since Collins only thinks there are two schools in Chicago.

JCT ... do you think Custer will leave after two seasons?

FWIW, he was introduced as a sophomore at the SDSU game.

With all those players graduating, the 2018 recruiting class will be very important for the direction of the program. Hopefully we continue winning to make us more attractive for potential recruits.
