It is tough to not love Porter and all the enthusiasm that he brings to this program and, even more than a coach, what a strong advocate he is for our program. I liked seeing him talking to the students on the bus.

I’m torn... I want us to literally win out and make the tournament ... but I also know if that happened, there’s a decent chance he might be gone... regardless though, I’m enjoying this ride!

Went to the women's game at MO St, so I just finished watching the men's game. This is a fun team to watch, especially when the offense is clicking. Road wins will be huge going forward, and as they said on the broadcast, this is a win Drake couldn't get.

I like Porter refusing to accept the compliments on how well the team is doing. In both the ESPN interview and Loyola's postgame video, he says that the goal is to continue to get better. Hopefully, that's what happens!

I disagree with Toledo respectfully !! I do feel that Porter is building a program that will bring us BACK to the top where we belong !! Should he be successful. the UNIVERSITY and Alumni will also follow through as hey did with GENTILE and leaving the HORIZON bunch for MVC-- I do think PM has what his and my generation were taught by Parents and Jesuits--and that is --LOYALTY !! Think for a minute what he is building--A team that CHICAGO and ILLINOIS can back.
I truly feel he has found a home he much as Meyer and Ireland did in their times at De Pewl and Loyola

I may be wrong BUT I think not !

I agree, brot, but if we are wrong and we lose Porter, no one can deny he left us in a better place than he found us and we will be in a spot to hire a strong replacement if it comes to that.

More than anything, I want a tournament appearance and we'll see how far we go from there.

It'll be a really interesting coaching carousel. Some big time jobs will probably be open (Louisville already is, Zona/USC/Auburn might be next) but will not get top level talent because of impending sanctions. Other programs will be looking for coaches because they're just plain bad. I mentioned Iowa on the MVC board as an example.

I think a few things will play into a potential decision for PM to leave. The offer from a bigger school will probably be well over $1 million/year, something I don't think we should try to come close to matching considering we don't have the revenue streams really established yet. But, I also think he might not get a break-the-bank offer given this is his first really eye-opening season since his days at UALR over a decade ago. And if he did get a big offer, it would be merely a nice retirement package it came from a dead-end school like DePaul, which is a brutal rebuilding job given how deeply top heavy the Big East is. Location too will play a role. DePaul (and by extension us) > Iowa (better city, don't have to move, his hometown, etc.). But there might be some Texas schools that could be looking for a coach (Texas A&M and maybe SMU and Houston if Jankovich and Sampson leave for greener pastures) and I believe his wife is from Texas.

But the program wouldn't be decimated by Porter leaving. He's put a lot of solid pieces in place, and his contract extension last season should've included a nice buyout if he were to leave. Porter's making over $400k, I think given a tournament run + that buyout, we could be in the range for a $500k-600k replacement, which should land a really good coach too. Or we can kind of bargain hunt somewhere in the $300k+ range and invest it in other aspects in the program like travel or some really solid veteran assistant coaches to surround said new coach. It would be interesting (albeit maybe a little frightening depending on who's really handling it and making the final decisions) to see how our coaching search will play out.

I just cannot stand this !! Porter stays and BUILDS HERE !! We are just now showing some BEGINNING success and some of us are speculating that he will snap up or be snapped up !! If we do well now and make the DANCE , LUC will reward him and his assts. Porter does NOT strike me as a money grabber.

BTW Dumbrot left ZIPS to Coach Duquesne--So far , Akron is not good and Duquesne is STILL so so !!

PORTER STAYS--Stop with the woe is me conspiracy games !!

16-4 should get us some National Press--except of course for the Chgo Media of course !! Get aboard !

He's not leaving. It would take three years of unbroken success and some NCAA tourament wins for him to get a better offer than it would be possible or advisable for us to match.

I'm really impressed by coach getting on that student bus and thanking them. To me that really shows someone who genuinely cares...someone who's heart is really into this program. And I would like to think that it makes a difference to those kids on that bus. People naturally want to care for people that care about them. It's things like that (and an awesome road win) that increases the chances that those kids become life-long fans like those of us here! Hopefully more students get on that proverbially "bus"!!!!

Hope it continues to build. I've heard that Bulldog Ale House shows all away games and the crowds there have been growing along with the team's success. Should be a lot of people out there Wednesday for the big showdown.

I will be in attendance on Sunday with 6 other alums. It'll be my second game of the year. For a few of them, it'll be there first game since we were students back in 2010. The excitement is building and spreading.
