Add Boise State to the list of teams we've held to season low point totals. Boise scored 54 in their losses at North Carolina State and at Wisconsin. Our RPI rises to 51, Boise State falls only four spots to 42. We get a Top 50 win, and the win against a Mountain West team pushes the Missouri Valley past the Mountain West in Conference RPI.

When was the last time we had the best record of any school in the State at the end of December? This season has far, far exceeded expectations. At the very least, we're see something we haven't for a while: signs of improvement and realistic hope of a winning future.

Its called CHARACTER , Guys !! These guys and our Coach have it BIG TIME.

I cannot now say we have yet to win anything--This , FOLKS is a start.

Our Coach is a COACH, RECRUITER and a CLASS act !! I really now can say --WE're BACK !! Long way to go BUT it now is a fact that we won on a bad night. Good teams do that.

Its been a LONG time for me personally--I shall take this win as a slightly belated EIGHTY FIFTH birthday present--

NOW on to the VALLEY--

Keep GOIN' RAMBLERS !!!

Saw Coach and his wonderful family by the hotel elevators after the game.
What a class act. You could see he was really hurting and I am glad his wonderful wife, three sons and his daughter were all by his side.
He is a great family man.
He also represents Loyola well.
Despite a lot of bs because of no AD, he put together this fine band of young men and molded them into a team maximizing their strengths and minimizing their weaknesses.
He also never complains about what he doesn't have.
We briefly discussed the game and his 3/2 zone adjustment with Crisman at the four that shut down the Boise state offense in the last two minutes.
Now we have a coach who can recruit and coach and sets high standards while represènting Loyola values.
If you get a chance go to your local Walgreens, but a sympathy card, write a personal note and send it to the Norville.
We are lucky to have coach Moser.
On a sidenote Knuth and Thomas were first team tourney and Doyle was tourney MVP.
I had Thomas with 17, 13 of which were in the second half.
So he had half of the team's second half 26 points.

Too late for me to stay up and watch, but what a great win for LU. Great momentum heading into a break before conference play. Checked the box score - 10 guys playing double digit minutes is really telling. Before the season, I noted that we needed to see improvement from the coaches. This, to me, shows he's developing his guys and trusting them out there - a big step forward over past years. It's a sad Christmas for Porter and his family, but I am happy for him to see that he's having success at work.

Great victory!

I went to bed at halftime with the Ramblers down 5.

Woke up this morning, put on the coffee, fed Walter, then went straight to Ramblermania not knowing what to expect.

Great to see we won.

Thanks 25 for the nice report following the game. It must have been a hard decision for Porter to stay with the team in Vegas following the news of his mother's passing.

10-2! Who would've thunk it?

Maybe we are witnessing the Renaissance of Loyola basketball.

Zeke, if the Ramblers continue their winning ways in conference play, I will bow down before you for your prescience in sighting the "Renaissance".

A couple of items I thought you might enjoy from the Shocker board "2014-15 Games of Interest" thread, congratulations on a GREAT week.:

shoxroxs89: "At this point loyola is playing better basketball than sCUm, its crazy how things work out."

WuDrWu: "I watched a good bit of that Loyola game. They are solid and tons better than last year. They do the little things...I think Porter has watched a LOT of Gregg and the Shocks. You have to be proud of the work they've done, and our hearts go out to Coach Moser. Tough tough day."

Jocoshock:

"Mark Adams ‏@EnthusiAdams 13m13 minutes ago @RamblersMBB boasts 7 players who shoot 35% or better from Arc. Milton Doyle and Christian Smith 57% and 53% from three. Great add to Valley

"Mark Adams ‏@EnthusiAdams 19m19 minutes ago @LoyolaRamblers are 5-1 away from home. 3 true road wins and two neutral site wins. Best non conference away perforce in country in my view.

"Mark Adams ‏@EnthusiAdams 2h2 hours ago Porter Moser mourned the lose of his mom yesterday then coached a perfect game to win Las Vegas Classic 48-45 over BSU. Ramblers legit 10-2."

There's also a thread on the ISUr board making a Creighton and LU comparison (we end up with positive reviews). I don't like the idea that we were some sort of instant, pre-packaged replacement for Creighton, becuase it's not really fair. My opinion is we were intended to replace a school in the existing pecking order that would move up and replace Creighton. Tulsa left the MVC after the 95-96 season, when Tulsa, Illinois State and Bradley were the top teams. In Tulsa's last year in the conference, Creighton finished 5th, and Wichita State finished tied for 10th (UNI had been brought in as an 11th team, perhaps in anticipation of Tulsa leaving).

This year just happens to be the best year for a Creighton/Loyola comparison since 2009-2010, when we were matched with Creighton in the Bracket Buster, much to their displeasure. As of today, our RPI is 52 and Creighton is 128, despite Creighton having much more control over who they schedule and where. We'll get a chance to play them next year at Gentile Arena as they finally make good on returning that Bracket Buster game from 2010.

Congrats on your pre-conference season. Hope you can continue to play well thru the conference season.

Our Sycamores absolutely suck this season. It will not be a fun time in Terre Haute this time around.
