Beard and Belly at the old Pumping Company location has great food + big beer menu. Not a "sports bar" though and obviously a little farther than Bulldog's, Bruno's, etc. But I love the spot.

Nate's post above is one of the first positive reviews I've seen of Porkchop. Maybe they've turned a corner after they were shut down by the Health Dept.

just a little more on the experience at Porkchops...is mostly a bbq joint but the people that had burgers enjoyed them...beer was fresh , and the old Hamiltons bar was still there although they had refinished it but same spot, same bar. Was also nice from the perspective that it was not so loud that we could not talk..and we had a great time. Also convenient to the parking structure.
Going down memory lane we remembered when we used to enter in the back off the ally directly to the pool table. We also started to name the other old bars Huey's, Minstrel's, Fatracks, C.O.D's . Interesting that Cunneens is still the same at Newgard and Devon...we grabbed one there after the game.
Word was that in the early 2000s concerned about binge drinking the U bought up a lot of universities and tried to get a bunch of the bars out of the area.

Also the Health Department issue was with the apartment upstairs not the restaurant.

Thanks for the burger places guys.
Oh, and burgers ARE serious business
