Putrid non-conference strength of scheduling for all but ONE of the A-10 teams.

What the heck is going on here.....

KenPom numbers below:

47. Dayton
190. Saint Louis
205. UMass
217. La Salle
233. Duquesne
258. Richmond
266. Fordham
283. VCU
288. St. Joseph's
295. Davidson
314. St. Bonaventure
318. Rhode Island
332. George Mason
345. Loyola Chicago
363. GW

From a Loyola perspective, we didn't have a super tough schedule from the outset so SOS was always going to be capped based on best case scenario of how our opponents' seasons. That said, for us and the rest of the league, it has to be super difficult to even project what teams are going to be strong in this era of massive player movement. Back in the day, you could project stronger teams or weaker teams based on recruiting class. Now it's almost impossible to judge. I mean who knew when we entered the Hawaii tournament last year that Kelsey would leave for Louisville and raid Charleston's roster? Especially for home and home scheduling like Princeton and technically San Francisco, there's going to be a fair amount of luck involved that the portal is kinder to them.

I still think $ is part of the issue here.....Not sure how it all works but I think better mid teams want some guaranteed cash ???? I think the NIL will have a serious effect on the Ramblers...hope there is some sort of equitable solution soon that will allow the LUs of the world to continue to compete.

SOS schedule numbers are overrated, IF you are winning games. We are currently 118 in Kenpom and 133 in the NET. Considering we have lost 4 of our last 5 and our metrics in those games are horrible it is a miracle we have not fallen further. Had we not suffered the 3 injuries to Moore, Dawson and Houinsou, We probably win 3 or 4 of the last 5 and things would be looking good. Prior to the injuries we were in the 70's in Kenpom and around 81 or so in the NET and a getting a few votes in the AP and USA Coaches poll.

Bottom line is you have to win games you are supposed to win.

Silver lining: Loved Miles and Sheldon's response and the Freshman got some minutes and experience. Also thought Reese showed he maybe deserves a few minutes at PG now that Moore is out and JQ keeps getting dumb fouls. Did not like Turner being taken off the redshirt, hope they can maybe find a way too still get him a redshirt year.

Money/NIL budget might be a good shorthand predictor for a team’s future success, but even then it’s not a complete guarantee. Louisville spent boatloads on NIL for the prior two seasons only to be complete trash. Scheduling them with Payne as HC would have killed our SOS, even though you schedule that game hoping for a shot at an high NET team.

Especially at the beginning of the season when the non-con happens, good teams by March might be struggling to work in their transfers too. See our team last year taking 2 months to gel and drag down the rest of the league’s NET.

Fordham has suspended their head coach, Coach Urgo for 4 games pending an NCAA investigation regarding recruiting violations....I did not think it was possible to violate recruiting rules...didnt know there were any left.
