I'm not surprised there isn't a lot of interest from their part. Texas isn't exactly basketball country. Now football on the other hand...
Funny. This is our third game against a Texas team so far this year, with the possibility of a fourth tomorrow. In scouting all these teams for the previews, I get the feeling like their rosters are a football coach's idea of what a basketball team should look like. There are a lot of big guys on these teams who don't really have a fundamental understanding of how to use their size in a basketball context. Texas Tech is probably the best of the lot in terms of avoiding that, but their big guys are mostly very young and inexperienced. All but one of Tech's eight players over 6'4" is a freshman, sophomore or a juco transfer. Maybe that's why they have real problems with athletic guards and wing forwards who are too big for their guards to defend and too quick/athletic for their big guys to keep up with. A team like VCU, or to a lesser extent UNI and Illinois State, would carve these guys up.
