And the elephant in the room is whether Porter would want to coach at his alma mater. Omaha is an under-rated city by the way. McDermot made about half a million more than Porter. Since Jesuits are very, umm, let's just say parsimonious when it comes to opening the wallet, I'll assume Porter would at best double his salary. The money probably isn't the biggest factor here. More likely, it's emotional. Would he want to coach at his alma mater. Considering my unconditional love for LU, should it be me, I would crawl over a 300-mile long bed of nails to lead my alma mater. (In my case it's a moot point because I have nothing to offer my alma mater.)

CRU is entitled to his opinion and me mine !!! HE STAYS !! He is NOT finished building here--AS I have written, there IS such a thing as LOYALTY !! LUC will give him a raise as part of their LOYALTY to him as well

This is the nuclear threat. If he won't go to Creighton, he won't go anywhere. It's a top 20 power-6 program. Jesuit. Alma mater. Not a rebuild, but enough of a challenge: the 3 seniors are all starters, the second, third, and fifth leading scorers, all in double figures, and of course they don't have to leave.

I'll bet Creighton doesn't have Brunei's across the street.

Porter will be on Creighton's list.....and if offered he will have to consider it (though I agree with Brot that Loyalty to LU...AND a nice raise will keep him here). But I don't think Porter will be at the top of Creighton's list. The first choice will be Devries. 17 years an assistant at Creighton. An excellent coach and motivator (he did an amazing job this season amidst the injuries). He is quite a bit younger than Porter. Will probably cost less. AND - has a 4 star son to bring with him. He's their first choice.

Not a chance that Devries is the #1 choice at Creighton. They will be coming with all they have for PM.

Pretty doubtful he would be leaving after the season if the comment only caused him to miss one game.

Yeah, I feel like what he said is blowing over. Sure hope there are some non-public, hit em’ in the wallet sanctions though. I am also curious to see if this affects his recruitment abilities in the next year or two.
