RIDICULOUS GAME. I am sure Drew will talk about great effort, not quitting, great defense, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH in his post game. Bottom line is this team is not well coached and continues to turn the ball over. We had 15 turnovers that lead to 19 points in a game where they only scored 58! This is 32.7 % of Mason’s points tonight.

Silly turnovers, lazy turnovers. No killers on this team. Dawson, Edwards, Watson a combined 5-28 and 3-21 from the arc. Mason shot 34% from the floor, 15% from the arc, and 50% from the line and they won the game! Why? They got 8 more shots up than we did despite the fact that we out rebounded them by 7 and we gave them those 19 points off of turnovers.

You can’t make these numbers up Folks. This is why I say this was a RIDICULOUS game. There is no reason we should have lost this game, even with the horrendous shooting on our part. We were 32.1% from the floor, 21.4 % from arc and 68.8% from the line.

Few thoughts fresh after taking the L:

-Mason played horrid. They shot 3-20 from deep (15%) and 11-22 from the free throw line. That was a golden opportunity to beat a top team in conference on the road. But we played slightly worse and blew our chance. Hate it.

-Offense is a rudderless ship without Moore. No real identity. No inside game. Poor 3-point shooters. Basically if Sheldon isn't shooting well from deep (and he was 1-8 tonight), the offense doesn't know what to do.

-We need better from Dawson. I really thought this would be his year. He has the talent, but it just isn't coming together. He was 1-11 today (1-8 from deep). Missed some WIDE OPEN shots from deep.

-That final possession of regulation. Why not call a timeout? You have two left. Instead, we just run an iso play and launch a shot at the backboard. Had a chance to draw something up.

-Good game from Nwaokorie. DeLoach was solid too but too many dumb fouls.

-Careless, lazy turnovers REALLY hurt this team. The one where both Des & Shel were going for a ball...and no one got it. The one in OT where Miles decided to try to possess the ball with one hand for some reason. The inbound lazy dribbling leading to their big guy getting an easy layup. The lazy inside feed by Des. So many more I am forgetting. Not having a true PG contributes to the mess.

-This is a middle-of-the-pack team, at best. On any given night, they can lose to the worst team in conference or beat the best team. That evens out to a team that will probably finish right around .500. Couple tough home games ahead vs Joe's (need revenge) and Bonnie's (just crushed Dayton). Need to hold serve at home.

Dawson has not been the same since he got hurt. He’s not as explosive and it’s effecting his shot. We have not seen him drive in traffic and dunk since the injury.

It's deja vu all over again. These players and the coaches are so 1990's Ramblers.

I will pile on a few thoughts.

Have you ever....EVER....seen a team with so many senseless turnovers. We knew when we lost Moore that we had lost our only true PG....and it has hurts us. But c-mon. That doesn't excuse the types of turnovers that we commit. I watch a lot of basketball - and no other teams have the types of turnovers that we do. These are Junior high turnovers. It's been happening all year - even when Moore was on the floor.....and you have to put that on Drew.

Des Watson may have the weakest hands I have ever seen. Every game he has his hands on multiple balls - rebounds or passes or loose balls - that he just cannot control. (the most critical was the last possession fumble out of bounds agains Oakland - that sent us into our Hawaii funk). It's also the reason that he cannot finish on drives to the basket.

It is exhausting watching this team....and frankly I haven't watched the last few games to just get a break. But tonight I re- engaged. It's the same frustrating story every game - and Drew is doing nothing to change the path. I don't see us getting to .500 in the conference. We really don't do anything well....or even above average......and then throw in the turnovers and the bad free throw shooting? Forget it.

We had no business winning that game, but somehow, had a shot to win at the buzzer at regulation. Amazing. I guess mostly a testament to how poorly George Mason played.

I don't have much faith in this team, but I hold out hope for a few bounces to go our way in the A-10 tournament.

I don't think there's much else to say. I'm glad the team is showing effort (and improvement on defense), but we're just not a winning team. Going to overtime and losing gets you jack.
